Designing a Custom Board
The curve of your board is governed by the style of board you're looking to design. Prone boards generally have a wider nose and a higher wide point. For example - a standard 42" board would have a nose width of 11.75", a board width (wide point) of 21", a measurement of 18" from nose to wide point and a tail width of 18.25". TIP: A funtional tail width is approximatly 3"; narrower than the board width (wide point).
Choosing Your Modifications
Board Templates
CUSTOM BOARD CURVE
Your boards template is derrived from the boards dimensions. It is best to choose a template the best suites your riding style. Then from the dimensions given to us we will choose a curve that connects these points.
PRONE TEMPLATES
These templates have a higher wide point and have a fairly straight curve between wide point and tail. This shape is also more suited to a wider nose, this allows for a greater area for landing aerial maneuvers and coming out of those critical spins.

Deck Contour
DECK CONTOUR

Elbow Pads
Elbow pads help protect the deck giving you a more response when pushing you elbow into the deck material. Elbow pads will reduce deck creases in bigger, more demanding surf and are available on all custom boards that do not incorporate a deck contour.
Hip-Loc
Our Hip-loc is achieved by recessing 2 grooves in the boards deck. (Not to be mistaken for our "Deck Contour" an alternate comform system). Each Hip-Loc is located each side at the tail at the tail end of the of the deck. The Hip-Loc system greatly increases comfort and control which are two principles I look at when designing a custom board.
Nose Bulbs
One of the most creative modifications of the modern day bodyboard is the nose bulb. Nose bulbs help create a more comfortable nose grip when surfing dominating barrels or landing high impact maneuvers. Without a doubt the nosebuld is a feature you do not want to miss on.
Rails
When designing rails I suggest that your design should stick to the three main rail configurations - 50/50, 55/45, 60/40. Rails with a ratio above or below these are available however the ratio you choose depends more on your size and weight than most other factors. The smaller (50/50) the rail percentage the easier it will contact the waves face. However if you are fairly heavy this could cause the board to bog down as too much of the board will go into the waves face so a larger (60/40) rail percentage is suggested.
Tails
Certain tail shapes change the planning area which will change the boards speed depending on the waves you are riding. Keep in mind, the tail you choose should best suit the waves you ride.
CLIPPED CRESENT TAIL
This is a radius cut out of the center with small pegs on each side. This tail will work well in all conditions and for all styles of riding.
FULL CRESENT TAIL
This is a full radius cut from point to point on the tail. Best combined for DK boards are really hollow waves. Not a good choice if you want to spin.
