Board Templates
Templates provide the boards curve and shape and are derived from the boards dimensions. It is best to choose a template the best suites your riding style. Then from the dimensions given to us we will choose a curve that connects these points.
Prone Template
These templates have a higher wide point and have a fairly straight curve between wide point and tail. This shape is also more suited to a wider nose, this allows for a greater area for landing aerial maneuvers and coming out of those critical spins.
Versatile Template
For this template the wide point is lowered more towards the middle of the board. This can be moved to suit you. By having it moved higher it will become a more prone board that is extremely maneuverable, this is also a good board that will allow you to DK occaisionally. As the wide point is moved back a more DK board is created, the nose width should also be decreased to reduce catching in turns.
Drop Knee Template
The wide point is placed in the middle or slightly lower. The nose width and area is also reduced to give the board a smoother and slightly rounded curve. The tail should be kept wide to provide more stability. These shapes work best with a full crescent tail and will not work prone.
Bumpers
A 3mm cross linked bumper is used on both the nose and tail of the board. This is to provide a better seal all round and add protection from leash and knee damage.
Channels
Channels are created in the boards bottom 6mm in from the rail and 25cm in length, they are tapered from entry down to 5mm at exit.
Rails
We do 3 configurations - 50/50, 55/45, 60/40. Anything above or below these are available. Which to choose depends more on your size and weight than most other factors. The smaller the rail % the easier it will contact the waves face. However if you are fairly heavy this could cause the board to bog down as too much of the board will go into the waves face so a larger rail % is suggested.
Tails (one piece tails upon request)
This is the shape of the tail, certain tail shapes change the planning area which will change the boards speed depending on the waves you are riding. You should always choose the tail that will best suit the waves you ride.
Clipped Crescent Tail
This is a radius cut out of the center with small pegs on each side. This tail will work well in all conditions and for all styles of riding.
Full Crescent Tail
This is a full radius cut from point to point on the tail. Best combined for DK boards are really hollow waves. Not a good choice if you want to spin.
Orb Tail
With a protruding radius in the center it maximizes the tails planning surface. This will help to lift the tail out of the water in larger waves and increase speed by reducing drag.By combining this with channels control is greatly improved.
Bat Tail
By also increasing the planning surface this tail will increase speed in powerful waves and also increase control with the wings. Once again by combining this with channels control is even greater.
Hip-Loc (Available on all tails)
This is achieved by recessing 2 grooves in the deck, 1 on each side at the tail. This greatly increases comfort and control 2 of the things we look for most in a board.
